Hot Wheels Infinite Rush on PC / Steam – The DVDfever Review

Hot Wheels Infinite RushHot Wheels Infinite Rush Hot Wheels Infinite Rush Hot Wheels Infinite Rush

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is this year’s entry in the videogame series based upon the toy cars, this time set across four towns, each with a stack of activities, such as drift stunts and Daredevil races.

After working through the entire Hot Wheels Let’s Race Ultimate Speed, last year, while on the plus side you do feel that need for speed at times, after several hours of play, I do have a number of issues.

First up, I’d rather have a more structured game like the last years’, where the races are presented in turn, as opposed to having to drive around for each new activity. That reminds me of when the Burnout series bucked from the usual trend, and changed to this format with Burnout Paradise. It is very annoying… okay, I know that they might like to do something different from time to time, but for me, it doesn’t work.

Plus, unless I’ve beaten a record in one of the activities, it doesn’t tick it off as I give it a go. Hence, it appears on the map as something I haven’t attempted.

For other tasks, sometimes when you go to a Tourist activity and have to take a picture of, say, the Wheelwoods sign or a pterodactyl, the game makes a noise to signify that you’ve got it in shot, but the photo option doesn’t come up! I thought the game might be broken in that respect, but another Tourist task worked perfectly fine, so I don’t know what’s happening there.

Additionally, the 12th Daredevil in Wheelswood just isn’t showing up for me, despite having beaten the other 11, and I also can’t find out how to get off the island. I’ve had a crack at everything – apart from one or two things that just don’t seem to work, like the aforementioned Tourist, but I go for the launch pad… and it throws me back to where I’ve started. FRUSTRATING!

Please make next year’s Hot Wheels game more like Let’s Race Ultimate Speed, and the two Unleashed games before that.
