How To Train Your Dragon 2 is the sequel to… yes, you guessed it.
That said, this was airing in Odeon cinemas last weekend, and presumably beyond, preceeding The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and I’m not a massive fan of CGI kids films, as regular readers will know, but when I’ve sat through multiple bloody adverts, then multiple trailers, including one for this film in 3D! And then we get… a five-minute opening scene for this film – which was actually in 2D, so rather a con there – I was just thinking, “When will Spider-man start!!!???”
It’s been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snotlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favourite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.
How To Train Your Dragon 2 features the voices of Kit Harington, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Gerard Butler, Cate Blanchett, Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, T.J. Miller, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Djimon Hounsou, Craig Ferguson and it’s released on July 4th in the UK.
