My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of I FOUGHT THE LAW on ITV!

I Fought The Law I Fought The Law is a new ITV drama based on a real-life situation, which begins in the House of Lords, 2003, with Ann Ming (the omnipotent Sheridan SmithThe Castaways) about to give a speech about her daughter, Julie’s, disappearance…. before events go back to Billingham in November 15th 1989.

Her daughter, Julie (Victoria Wyant), is about to get divorced from her husband, but the next morning, she hasn’t risen from her bed, or so it seems until they realise she’s not actually at home, nor anywhere else they can think of, the police are initially less than helpful, and even her employer’s being a mardy arse about them asking a simple question.

Naturally, absolutely zero spoilers to how this will play out, and it’s safe to say that answers are very thin on the ground, but as usual, Ms Smith is on top form, although it’s a very slow-burner which does get a bit frustrating.

Still, it’s great to hear The Cure’s Pictures of You as the opening credits play, as well as seeing some police vehicles at the time. Even though I was just turning driving age as this drama begins, it still feels like about 400 years ago. Don’t get old. It’s bobbins.

I Fought The Law begins tonight on ITV at 9pm, but is already available to stream on ITVX.

It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
