Indignation is set in 1951 and tells the tale of Marcus Messner (Logan Lerman), the idealistic son of a humble kosher butcher from Newark, New Jersey.
Marcus leaves for Ohio to study at a small, conservative college, where he finds himself at odds with the administration, grapples with anti-Semitism and se -xual repression and pines after a troubled girl, amid the ongoing Korean War.
Directed and written by James Schamus, based on the novel by Philip Roth, the film also stars Sarah Gadon, Ben Rosenfield, Tracy Letts and Margo Kazaryan.
Released on July 29th in the US, with no date yet set for the UK, I couldn’t get particularly excited about this period drama.
