Intergalactic – The DVDfever Review – Savannah Steyn, Craig Parkinson

Intergalactic Intergalactic is a new sci-fi drama set in the year 2143, in Commonworld, a futuristic city built next to a destroyed London.

Cop Ash Harper (Savannah Steyn) is planning to move to Shanghai, but as luck would have it, she’s arrested for stealing weapons from the evidence locker, even though she knows she didn’t and was set up. But who did the dirty deed? Ah, there’s the rub.

Her mum, Rebecca Harper (Parminder Nagra), wrote this legislation, so she’s sure Ash is innocent, but the top doc who doesn’t want to listen to reason is Craig Parkinson, aka Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan from Line of Duty, so you KNOW he must be bent! (I’m assuming, just because it’s him).

Unless she can prove her innocence, then for now, Ash is sent high up to the prison ship Hemlock, along with a rag-tag bunch of reprobates. Alas, even if she can clear her name, it might not matter because the other prisoners engineer a way to take over the ship and cause mayhem, ad this is on a ship where the only prisoner who’s calm is a female Hannibal Lecter-type. Well, calm for now…

The opener of Intergalactic is pretty entertaining – albeit ridiculously noisy, but the jury’s still out on whether it’s one to stick with. I’ll try another couple of episodes and see if this spaceship has wings…

Intergalactic begins on Sky One on Friday April 30th at 9pm, but is not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. All episodes are available on demand from day one.
