John Cleese must really have another tax bill to pay. A few years ago, he called his tour ‘The Alimony tour’ because of all the money he had to pay in a divorce settlement, and now he’s prostituting himself in an advert for glasses.
One of the best things about Fawlty Towers, apart from it being very funny, is that they never made more than two series. So there were no duff episodes. Leave the audience wanting more!
Unfortunately, not only is he trying to be Basil Fawlty again, but he’s recreating a scene from an episode in this godawful Specsavers “Fawlty Car” advert and it comes across as flat as a flat pancake that’s been flattened by a steamroller.
