Las Vegas Let’s go back in time. It is 2005, you’ve just finished classes at the university, and are going home for a chill and relaxing time. One show that you are probably watching is Las Vegas! This drama TV show that aired on NBC spanning 2003 to 2008 follows the adventures of the staff of the Montecito Resort Casino who are our protagonists located in Las Vegas, Nevada. We will eat some member berries and take a ride back in time discussing this awesome TV show!

The series had all star casts with James Caan as Ed Deline (who is well known for his role in Godfather and other big blockbusters in the 80s) a former CIA agent and the president of operations, Josh Duhamel (Transformers) as Danny McCoy, a former Marine and the head of security; James Lesure as Mike Cannon, a former engineer and the surveillance expert; Vanessa Marcil as Sam Marquez, a high-roller hostess; Molly Sims (Yes Man) as Delinda Deline, Ed’s daughter and the entertainment manager; Nikki Cox as Mary Connell, the special events director; and Tom Selleck as A.J. Cooper, a mysterious billionaire who takes over the casino in the final season.This A team of actors did give us one of the best (even underrated) performances on TV at the time.

Who doesn’t remember the catchy classic theme song, “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley. Every time we watched, we got the feeling that we were in Las Vegas at that moment.

For those who know, the series offered a mix of interesting and fast-paced blend of action, coupled with a bit of comedy, some interesting romance, and the cherry on top – the drama! We were witnesses of how glamorous and exciting life is in Las Vegas, where literally anything can happen. The A-team of actors were upgraded with an A-list of guest appearances such as Alec Baldwin, Jon Bon Jovi, Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, Hugh Hefner, and Sylvester Stallone. Usually they were playing themselves or in some cases fictional characters.

  • Delinda’s Box: Part 2” : This episode is part of the Season 2 finale. In this existing episode, Delinda was kidnapped by a group of robbers who wanted to exchange her for the money they stole from Montecito. However, through the combined actions of Danny, Ed, and the team they rescue her, even with the “help” of the FBI, the casino’s insurance company, and a mysterious woman who claims to be Ed’s wife.
  • Centennial“: This episode was the season 3 premiere. Here the Montecito casino celebrates its 100th year of establishment. In this episode, Ed invites some of the casino’s past legends to join the party. However, nothing goes as planned, as there is a massive blackout through Las Vegas, and in the Montecito casino there is chaos. Now, our protagonists Danny and Mike must deal with all the troubles such as a missing tiger, unsatisfied guests and a spooky murder mystery, while the others protagonists try to help a pregnant woman who just started labor.
  • Always Faithful“: This episode is the Season 4 premiere, where we find Ed is shot in the chest by an unknown assailant, and is quickly rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile, Danny, Mike, and the team must find out who is behind this notorious attack, and why did it happen. Also, the second backstory is the struggle of the relationship between Delinda and Danny, as one character reveals that she is pregnant with his child.
  • “Three Weddings and a Funeral: Part 2” : This episode is not only the Season 5 finale, but the series finale as well. In this existing episode, the Montecito casino is under threat from a rival casino owner, who wants to buy out the Montecito and completely destroy it. Our protagonists Danny, Mike, and the team must find a way to stop him from destroying the thing they love so much, while also finally resolving their personal issues. The episode ends with a cliffhanger, as an explosion rocks the Montecito, and the fate of our favorite protagonists is left unknown.


Legacy and Beyond

Las Vegas was a popular and successful show, as it attracted millions of viewers and received positive reviews from critics and created a long lasting following of fans. With 5 seasons, this show was ahead of its time, but we say it was done at the right place and time, because from it other shows were inspired.

The perfect cast backed with a script that had witty and clever writing left us and the viewers itching for the next episode. All these things combined made this show a good investment of time for the viewers. Even though it didn’t win any awards, it still got nominated for several awards, including Emmy, the Golden Globe, and the People’s Choice Awards.
