Mog is the creation from author Judith Kerr and Mog’s Christmas Calamity is the 2015 Christmas advert for Sainsburys and it does for Xmas ads what all the others I’ve seen don’t – there’s no horrible singing in them!
Given that Mog accidentally starts a fire in the kitchen, burning down the house, yet also manages to call the fire brigade along the way, the family who live there are completely oblivious to the fact that he caused the titular calamity in the first place.
With some domino toppling-style scenes that are reminiscent of last year’s Paddington movie, this ad is well worth three-and-a-half-minutes of your time.
Check out the new Sainsburys Christmas advert for 2015 – Mog’s Christmas Calamity, and below that, watch the ‘making of’ which shows where Judith Kerr got her inspiration.
The theme for the advert is “Christmas is for sharing”, and it has also been made to promote literacy in children. Check out many of the books on sale here and note that the profit from sales from Mog books over Christmas will go towards the charity Save The Children.
