Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

16 M2M – Don’t Say You Love MeA new girl band and on the strength of this, they sound like anotherWilson Phillips.

15 Jennifer Lopez – Feelin’ So GoodShe’s probably not after two Top 5 singles and a third that falls wayshort of the mark, but then it’s not that good.

12 N+G featuring Kallaghan – Right Before My EyesSounds like a cover version of something I heard a few years ago.Either way it’s dull dance rubbish.

11 Precious – RewindLast year’s UK Eurovision hopelessfuls, they take another assualt on thesenses. Nothing spectacular.

3 Santana feat. Rob Thomas – SmoothEnjoying something of a resurgence in the US, their album “Supernatural”is doing very nicely indeed on both sides of the Atlantic.

“Smooth”, has all the trademarks of a top Santana tune and it marks justover 20 years since their last appearance in the charts, when “All I EverWanted” made No.57 in March 1980.

Their bigger hits were “Samba Pa Ti” (No.27, Sep 74) and “She’s Not There”(No.11, Oct 77).

2 Moloko – The Time Is Now *Worthy dance follow-up to “Sing It Back”, Roisin Murphy lends her vocaltalents to another atmospheric track that deserves your attention.

1 Melanie C – Never Be The Same Again *1st Week at No.1*Knocking Geri down to No.4 and getting her first No.1 is Hirstute Spice, with another slow song and a very good one to boot. Just a shame it’s ruinedby a rap in the middle by TLC’s Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes.

This single is the 10th in a row to go straight in at No.1.

  • 1. Westlife – I Have a Dream / Seasons in the Sun
  • 2. Manic Street Preachers – The Masses Against the Classes
  • 3. Britney Spears – Born to Make You Happy
  • 4. Gabrielle – Rise
  • 5. Oasis – Go Let it Out
  • 6. All Saints – Pure Shores
  • 7. Madonna – American Pie
  • 8. Chicane featuring Bryan Adams – Don’t Give Up
  • 9. Geri Halliwell – Bag It Up
  • 10. Melanie C – Never Be The Same Again

    Dominator’s Top 50 of 1999

    13. B*witched – Blame It On The Weatherman

Just over a year ago in March 1999, this band scored their fourth No.1 ina row which for an all-girl band was a first and it landed them in the recordbooks.

Since then, their fortunes have taken a turn for the worse and the hits aren’tcoming quite as high as they used to. Where will their new single, “Jump Down”get to?

    The end bit :

Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me.

    Bye for now,

    Dominator
