Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

Frankee:
Fuck You Right Back
[Good, Bad & The Ugly]

68 Frankee – Fuck You Right Back

A “reply” to Eamon’s No.1 single. Hey, Frankee, go fuck yourself! Nobody cares!

Pink: Last To Know
[Try This]

21 Pink – Last To Know

A very low entry for the outspoken lesbian, bisexual or whatever sheis this week.

James Fox:
Hold On To Your Love

13 James Fox – Hold On To Your Love

The UK entry for this year’s Eurovision. Give me Jemini any day overthis sentimental shit.

Franz Ferdinand: Matinee
[Franz Ferdinand]

8 Franz Ferdinand – Matinee

Not as immediately in-your-face as their first single, Take Me Out, butone that’s equally worthy of a listen and soon gets under your skin just asmuch. Great stuff.

Marillion: You’re Gone

7 Marillion – You’re Gone

Their first single in nine years and their first Top 10 hit since 1987’s Incommunicadoand since Fish departed. From what I’ve heard of it, it’s not particularly outstanding, and hasgone into the Top 10 largely down to the band heavily promoting the fact they want a Top 10hit and telling everyone to buy three copies each, rather than letting them decide on their own terms.

Maroon 5: This Love
[Songs About Jane]

3 Maroon 5 – This Love

Bit of a curiosity this. They sound like they could be a boyband, but have a lot more to their soundthan that, adding in tune, melody and an element of funk rarely effectively seen in much of the charts’output these days.

Eamon: Don’t Want You Back
[I Don’t Want You Back]

1 Eamon – Fuck It (I Don’t Want You Back) :O === *2nd Week at No.1*

What a complete waste of time this is. Like D12, this is uninspired rap, buthere with more f-words per minute than Goodfellas, which is the reason plentyof idiotic kids have bought it.

His apparent ex is releasing a “reply” single, “Fuck You Right Back”,which sounds exactly the same. When will the general public release theirreply, “Who Gives a Fuck?”

Why don’t he and D12 just rename their songs, “Let’s all be as stupid aswe possibly can because we’re all dull!”?

This is the 3rd new single to go straight in at No.1 in a row:

  • 1. Usher – Yeah!
  • 2. McFly – Five Colours in Her Hair
  • 3. Eamon – Fuck It
