Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

12 Alanis Morissette – Hands CleanThe first single from her third album, but while it’s okay it’s far fromrevolutionary. Expect it to drop down the charts like a stone next week.

9 A – Nothing * !!!A brilliant new rock track that’s getting plenty of airplay on MTV2.

3 Kylie Minogue – In Your Eyes * !!!I never saw what the big fuss was about “Can’t Get You Out of My Head”,but this track is far more entertaining.

1 Westlife – World of Our Own :O === *1st Week at No.1*

Their 10th No.1 single and another depressingly bland track.

This is the 4th single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

  • 1. Aaliyah – More Than a Woman
  • 2. George Harrison – My Sweet Lord (R)
  • 3. Enrique Iglesias – Hero
  • 4. Westlife – World of Our Own

Need a new source for info.

Dominator’s Top 50 of 2001After last week’s look back at all the Top 50 tracks of last year,this week sees the list of my Top 50 of 2001. From next week I shallbegin my look back at them.

9. Turin Brakes – Mind Over MoneyA tough decision between this and “The Door” (No.67, March 2001), “MindOver Money” made No.31 last August. They get plenty of MTV2 airplay and thistrack sounded to me like it was about to merge into “Demons” by the SuperFurry Animals.

They also had a No.39 hit in May last year with “Underdog” and just missedthe Top 40 with “Emergency 72” (No.41, October 2001)
