A brief analysis on the current chart situation…

I hate the La’s. They were made out to be some sort of demi-gods, but thissingle is shit. The follow-up, which never gets played, “Timeless Melody”was quite good though.
44 Chris Isaak – Baby Did a Bad Bad ThingThe music used in the trailers for Kubrick’s last film, “Eyes Wide Shut”
5 Britney Spears – (You Drive Me) CrazyThird single but like “Sometimes”, it’s a far cry from “Baby One More Time”and the video’s not as good either 🙂
3 Shania Twain – Man I Feel Like a Woman :O ===More feminist shite for the masses. When will she take her head out of herarse and make a proper record? This rubbish really “don’t impress me much”.
2 S Club 7 – S Club Party *Second single and not a second No.1 but perhaps they’ve left it too long sincethe last single. Still, at least Rachel’s still “doing her thing” and Jo’sstill “got the flow” 🙂
1 Eiffel 65 – Blue (Da Ba Dee) *2nd Week at No.1*The third new No.1 in a row to shoot straight in at the top after beingreleased on import.
This is the 26th single to go straight in at No.1.

40. Placebo – Pure MorningNow this is an absolute work of pure genius. Despite a No.30 hit in Sept 96with “Teenage Angst”, Placebo didn’t come to the fore until February 97 whenthey reached No.4 with “Nancy Boy”, but things slipped a bit when “BruisePristine” spent a week in the charts at No.14 in May 97.
“Pure Morning” (No.4, Aug 98) is a loud, raucous noise which gets better withevery second that goes by and with a promo video that is very bizarre,featuring singer Brian Moloko throwing himself off the roof of abuilding…almost.
It was followed up with “You Don’t Care About Us” (No.5, Oct 98) and”Every You Every Me” (No.11, Feb 99).
