A brief analysis on the current chart situation…
14 new entries this week, 1 climbers (Celine Dion from 3 to 2), 2 non-movers(Savage Garden at 9, and Run DMC at 1) and 23 going down.
Big fallers include Texas (4 to 13), Natalie Imbruglia (6 to 20), Kylie(14 to 33), James (17 to 35) and Bryan Adams (20 to 37).

12 Pulp – This Is Hardcore * !!!
The title track to their forthcoming album, and if it were by anyone else itwould bomb instantly. However, in Pulp‘s hands, this depressing slow tunestrikes a chord all of its own breaking free of the usual chart singles andmaking it a must-hear.
11 The All Seeing I – Beat Goes On *
Debut dance hit for The All Seeing I. Excellent stuff.
8 M People – Angel St. :O ===
Jeez! Are M People trying to bore their audience to death? This is the thirdsingle from their current album “Fresco”, the cover of which looks likeHeather Small is dying to fart.
“Just For You”, being the first single was bound to do well and made No.7.“Fantasy Island” had an endless monotonous beat, and only made No.33 just beforeChristmas. However, “Angel St” plummets to new depths in their career with asong even more dull, which makes it even more surprising how it ever managedto get a Top 40 placing, let alone the Top 10.

Rather good cover version of a song from The Sundays first album, “Reading,Writing, Arithmetic”, which also has a worthy remix available too.
4 (2) Spice Girls – Stop
As this one tumbles this week it’s now clear their domination of the chartsis on the slide. You can only fool the public for so long…
3 Robbie Williams – Let Me Entertain You
Robbie’s career was on the downturn until the release of “Angels” which provedto be his biggest seller.
This new one has a frenetic pace, and has Robbie dressed as a member from Kissin the video, but the song burns itself out very quickly in terms of capturinginterest. However, it’s given him a high placing even if it does drop sharplynext week as I suspect it will.
1 (1) Run DMC vs. Jason Nevins – It’s Like That *2nd Week at No.1*
So DJ Jason Nevins ruins an old Run DMC track, as well as a forthcomingreworking of a Beastie Boys track, “Hold It Now, Hit It” which appeared on their1987 “Licenced To Ill” album which housed their most well-known hit, “(You’veGotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)”.
This single starts off another set of singles going straight to No.1 probably.

13. Edward Ball – Love Is Blue
Edward Ball has to be one of the most underrated singer-songwriters makingrecords today, and this one only made No.59 in February 97 after endless plugson the radio since it was released in the week coming up to Valentine’s Day.
The only other release for him last year was the reissued “The Mill HillSelf Hate Club” which made No.136 in April.
Edward Ball is an artist who deserves major success in the UK, but so far it’seluding him completely. 🙁
