Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

38 Da Click – We Are Da Click

    Sounds plausible.

    33 (16) Skunk Anansie – Secretly

I heard this for the first time on Top of the Pops this week. Looking at whatthey were wearing, they’ve clearly completely disappeared up their ownarses now.

21 Beastie Boys – Remote Control

Why do the Beastie Boys produce such absolute bollocks these days?Where’s the next “Sabotage” or “Fight For Your Right” ?

14 NAS featuring Puff Daddy – Hate Me Now :O ===

    Well they’ve got my vote!

11 The 1999 Manchester United Squad – Lift It High (All About Belief)

I’d rather listen to Ben Dover singing “Lift It High – It’s all about RELIEF!”Still, at least it sold more than Newcastle United’s effort :Mungo Jerry & Toon Travellers – Support The Toon, which made No.57

    10 Sugar Ray – Every Morning * !!! (joint)

This is a top tune from a new band, but I can never remember how it goes untilI hear it again.

    8 Hepburn – I Quit *

A new girl band with a very funky tune and rather good too.

    6 Precious – Say It Again *

A new girl band with a very funky tune and rather good too.

But this one is the UK’s Eurovision entry. Let’s just hope that whoever winsthis year at least knows which bus they’re on and are not Hayley fromCoronation Street.

5 (2) Geri Halliwell – Look At Me

Uh-oh, that two million quid *was* a bad investment…

4 Sixpence None The Richer – Kiss Me * !!! (joint)

Another new band, this time from America, with a jingly-jangly sound thatbecame the love theme to a film released over there months ago, but onlycoming out this weekend just gone, “She’s All That”.

1 Shanks and Bigfoot – Sweet Like Chocolate :O ===*1st Week at No.1*

What the hell is this? Apparently it’s sold many times more copies thananything out in the past week, but it’s a very average dance tune with acrap promo that looks like a Coronation Street intro.

Shanks and Bigfoot? Armitage Shanks and Bigfoot morelike.

This is the 15th single to go straight in at No.1.

  • 1. Fatboy Slim – Praise You
  • 2. 911 – A Little Bit More
  • 3. Offspring – Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
  • 4. Armand Van Helden featuring Duane Harden – You Don’t Know Me
  • 5. Blondie – Maria
  • 6. Lenny Kravitz – Fly Away
  • 7. Britney Spears – Baby One More Time

    Dominator’s Top 50 of 1998

    22. Fastball – The Way

When this made No.21 in the charts last October I hadn’t heard it, butsaw the video several times afterwards. Since then we’ve not heard a beanfrom them apart from an album release, but “The Way” deserved a Top 10 placingfor sure, reminding me, in the main, of some songs from the late 80’s whilethe guitar solo was reminscent of the early 80’s (1982 to be precise)”Abracadabra” by The Steve Miller Band.

    The end bit :

Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me atCharts Request to tell me.

    Bye for now,

    Dominator
