Would you ‘kill’ for this PS2 game…?
Released at the weekend, this title seemed like a standard rather blandaffair at first, as you run about as if you’re Sam Fisher in Splinter Cellbut with a more arcadey feel to it, but while I didn’t go a bundle for thatone, there’s something about this one that really gets under your skin…

And I know this week’s issue has been placed online later than intended (actuallythe early hours of the 14th), but Friday 13th hit my PC hard when the ailingpower supply bought the farm and I woke up to that news. If only the damnthing could’ve given me some indication that was going to happen I wouldn’thave had the ensuing panic that resulted…

February 11th:A second outing for Dragonball Z on the GBA…
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Kirstenloves this game, but from her description of it my 30+ year-old brain doesn’tunderstand a word of the concept. Kamehameha? Trunks? Vegeeta? It must meansomething to someone out there 🙂
Dragonball Z: Legacy of Goku IIis online and out on the Gameboy Advance now.
February 10th:Music nostalgia with Jason’s Jukebox at DVDfever.co.uk…
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Jason Maloneyreturns with his new regular column charting the hits from way back when andgiving everyone a nostalgia trip back to when music meant something.
This week we return to the week ending February 11th 1978, when disco wasall the rage with the likes of Odyssey, Donna Summer, Heatwave, Chic andBaccara (right).
Jason’s Jukebox Vol.4is online now.
pudding for the first time.
If the BBC know one thing for sure, it’s that later this year they will belosing the rights to screen The Simpsons to Channel 4, which at leastshould see of The Salon if they double-bill it with the increasingly-tediousHollyoaks.
However, what they’re not sure of is what would be its replacement, and afterthe mess that was Nobody Likes a Smartass (even though we, and Jo Brandin the studio, all use the word ‘arse’), I doubt the BBC’s new offering,Traitor is its successor either.
Looks like a good idea on paper – a gameshow that whittles the contestants downto one final winner of £5,000, with them all shouting at each other overthe course of the heavily-edited 45 minutes, so you’ve got the reality TVelement combined with a ‘Weakest Link’ style of gameplay.
Sadly, as well as it being incredibly dull, they’ve also got a complete deadheadin the form of presenter Tony Livesey, who’s so obscure that there’s nolink to show on the BBC’s own website and the only picture I could find was ofhim in his days of BBC Radio Lancashire trying black pudding for the first time.A shame he couldn’t reach such dizzy heights again.
So, the show last night started with 9 contestants, two of whom were thetraitors in the midst and through general conversation had to be outed by therest, either by one standing up and declaring “I accuse”…, and hoping mostof the others vote the same way, or inbetween such rounds when everyone wouldput their blindfold on, for the traitor to then up theirs and send another’citizen’ packing.
I forget what jobs traitors Margaret and Diane were meant to have, but theformer was so bad she was found out fairly quickly, leaving Diane to sit itout until the end (well, she’d have to otherwise you’d have no show, althoughit was clear where the edits were to get it down to 45 minutes as peoplesuddenly stopped shouting or suddenly ‘accused’ someone else of being thetraitor).
Dumb contestants get eliminated along the way included burly prison guard Greg, shouter Rachel and professional scouser John, but it was clear – even if Ihadn’t been told at the start who the two traitors were (although there wasan option football-scores-style to “look away now if you don’t want to know”,or perhaps switch over) that Diane was one since she barely said anythinguntil the end when she threw in an accusation to remove a threat (David,a teacher, who was clearly going to win).
Then at the end, Sophia Scatterbrain, whose “Oh, I’m so confused”,sounded like she was going to morph into Jill’s hairdresser assistant Lindain BBC3’s excellent Nighty Night, was tricked into accusing John, he wasthrown out and because she got it wrong, Diane scooped the lot and said shewould be taking her daughter to Florida. Hope she stays there.
Diane concluded about the show, “It was horrific – the worst thing I’veever done in my life.”
Watching this show came damn close. For those who still want punishment, itcontinues at 6pm each weekday, but rest assured that repeats of the Simpsonswill be back next week.
Until then, I accuse BBC2 controller Jane Root of not having a cluewhat she’s doing. Who’ll vote with me?
puts on a front.
Now, the cynical side of me might suggest that ITV’s I’m a Celebity Get MeOut Of Here is to the Australian Jungle what the movie Capricorn Onewas to the moon, but sadly in this case those who were voted off weren’t putto the firing squad by the authorities.
Last night, ex-pop star and pretender-to-the-crown as the new ‘Posh’ of a’Posh and Becks’ couple with her Westloife husband Bryan, loudmouth Scouser,or just ‘scouser’ since you can fill the rest in for yourself, Kerry McFaddenwon the third series after everyone else lost.
What did she do to win? God only knows. I never watched it. I failed to findout when the celebrities were going to arrive, although I might have taken aninterest had 80s hero Timmy Mallett been brought in after John Lydon walked.
Of the rest, Royal Arselicker Jennie Bond came second, while failedpop star Peter Andre was third, and his only fan now seems to be theUK’s answer to Jonathan “Jono” Coleman, our very own fat unfunny sack of shit,Chris Moyles, who claimed he was trying to get “Mysterious Girl” re-releasedwhen the record company were going to do it anyway.
I’ve no idea who “Lord Brocket” was, and when they said “Razor” was going tobe appearing, I would’ve found more recognition in ex-Eldorado character”Razor” Sharp than some footballer.
And don’t get me started on Jordan, the biggest waste of space on theplanet – particularly with those half-footballs stuck to her chest. It’s ashame that such a few years ago she actually looked quite attractive when shemade a video forPlayboy, but now she’s got herself to the point where I’d ask any of my male friendsfor their opinion and not a single one finds her attractive in her current state. And as for her teasing premise of “Will she get her tits out in the jungle?”,well, why change the habit of a lifetime, love, as you do that daily in theStar!
So, what does the future hold for Kerry now she’s won? It seems odd that someonecan now make a career out of eating insects for two weeks, but while at firstI thought it was a bad career move to leave Atomic Kitten just as they werestarting to get somewhere – and indeed get their first No.1 hit single with“Whole Again”, perhaps not since they only split up at the end of lastmonth.
(Well, they say it’s only temporary but since they made little money themselves,in pop-star terms, I doubt they’ll be back, and no wonder Natasha’s depressedwith the sad ginger bob she was sporting in their “We’re not breaking up”speech).
The reason Kerry might have a career on TV now is because for some reason, winners of this show are the only people ITV viewers listen to. Phil Tufnellwent from a tedious sport to tedious wafflings about nothing on TV, and LindaBarker’s still starring in a series of adverts of outrageous lies that claimCurry’s are always cutting prices, despite the fact that Curry’s are part ofthe Dixons Stores Group chain (along with Dixons, obviously, PC World and TheLink, all of which are staffed by clueless fuckwits who wouldn’t know customerservice if it jumped up and bit them on the arse).
Just be grateful Christine Hamilton didn’t win when she was on…
