Singer Robert Palmer dies aged 54…
Robert Palmer died of a heart attack in the early hours of yesterdaymorning while taking a short break in Paris with his partner Mary Ambrose, after recording a TV special in the UK.
Born in Yorkshire, as well as being in two bands with Elkie Brooks includingVinegar Joe, and 80s outfit Power Station, he has had a successful solo careerwith singles including Some Guys Have All The Luck, I Didn’t Mean To TurnYou On, Simply Irresistible and his trademark 1986 hit, Addicted ToLove with a defining video featuring four lookalike models supposedlyplaying their instruments.
Always one of the sharp dressed men of music, I couldn’t believe this when Iheard it yesterday. In early July, Barry White passed away and was only 58and now Robert Palmer. It’s sad when anyone dies before their time, but theseare two names that really don’t seem ready for this. Palmer’s solo careerhasn’t exactly rocketed in the last 10 years and he was due a comeback.
He recently went round Europe promoting a new album, Drive, and it’ssad to think it’ll sell more just because he’s passed away.
