November 27th:UPDATE: HIGNFY presenter and ITV1/Sky faults – sign the petitions…
At DVDfever.co.uk, we believe there’s only one suitable replacementfor Angus Deayton and that’s BBC2’s Working Lunch financial whizz Adam Shaw. Also, viewers of ITV1 on Sky Digital will be experiencing brief”blackouts”, predominantly in the Granada area. Sky blame ITV and vice versa,so the only way to find out is for viewers to make their comments felt so wecan present them to Granada.
So far, there’s more signatures for the ITV/Sky petition than the HIGNFY, butfor those not proficient in the wit and wisdom of Shaw, then take a look.

Mel B becomes a lesbian…?
How does a pop star spell “Desperate attempt to revive a long-dead career?”
According to Mel B, it’s “lesbian lover”. Pretending to be a homosexual doesn’tsuddenly give you musical prowess, it just shows her up for the talentless’wannabe’ that she really is.

17 more tracks, focusing mostly of their output from the 80s, but have theyseen sense and dumped the idea of zooming videos in to 16:9 just to fill ananamorphic frame? No, and they’ve gone at least two stages worse in some videos…

November 21st:Movie news @ DVDfever.co.uk…
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen returns with hisregular movie news section which looks at future releases and features US and UKtop 10 cinema listings, US release dates, websites and trailers, and this weeka tribute to composer Michael Kamen, who died on Tuesday aged just 55.
Dan’s Movie Digest: Issue 69is online now.
Fame’s “Leroy” dies aged 41…
Actor/dancer Gene Anthony Ray, best known as Leroy from the 1980 movie andspin-off TV series Fame, which ran from 1982-87, died aged just 41 lastFriday, and his death was only announced yesterday.
He became one of the most popular characters in the show and landed the rolein the film after choosing auditions over attending school. His otherappearances include the Weather Girls’ 1984 hit single, It’s Raining Menand the movies Out of Sync, directed by Fame co-star Debbie Allen in1995, and Eddie, the 1996 Whoopi Goldberg alleged comedy.
Ray was diagnosed HIV positive in 1996 and suffered a stroke in June.
Family Guy and Farscape to return to TV…?
Thanks to a good mate of mine in the USA, John fromEpGuides.com,who told me about the plan to revive these two shows.
You can read the full story on the website, The Futon Critic,HERE.
You can also find out more info about the Family Guy DVDs by clicking on theimage on the right.
RANT: Hollyoaks plunges new depths of tedium…
Regardless of the number of babes in the show (click the link to the right formore info about the new 2004 Calendar), even as someone who used to enjoy thenonsense, the move to five nights a week has just taken the threadbare plotlinesand strung them out even further.
- Can Dan prove it was Toby who killed those girls?
- Izzy’s self-imposed sex ban against fiancee Ben
- Norman’s nose being pushed out of joint by Darren
- The Dean family’s financial problems (shoot them!)
- Tony’s appearance in a porn film
- Max and OB at each other’s throats
- The endless Tony/Mandy/Helen love triangle
- Chloe always whinging about being fat (stop shoving cream cakes down yer gob!)
- Nick always whinging about his sexuality
- The new students who have no storylines at all, plus the family of the girl who just happened to move in nearby
Did I miss anything?
If it wasn’t for the fact that there’s sod all else on when I’m making dinner, I doubt I’d tune in again, as the storylines have become easily as tedious as those Brookside had from the mid-90s onwards.
Come on Phil Redmond, it takes more than a dodgy looking “let’s pretend thevideo is really film” effect to paper over the cracks. Go back to two nightsa week and actually look at what you’re writing.
