If there is one place I wish I could be this weekend, it’s at Nordicana, the UK’s only festival to combine Nordic crime & thriller film & fiction, a genre that exploded after the release of Stieg Larsson’s The Millennium Trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) books and films, and the hugely popular BBC Four aired TV series, The Killing, Wallander, Borgen & The Bridge.
Now in its second year, Nordicana embodies everything that we have come to love about Scandinavian culture, including the food and drink, fashion, interior design, furnishings and even the music!
Nordicana takes place this weekend, Sat Feb 1st & Sun Feb 2nd. Highlights include: David Hewson – author of the three Killing novels, a Q&A with The Bridge‘s Sofia Helin and Kim Bodnia, Krister Henriksson and Charlotta Jonsson are interviewed about Wallander while Sidse Babett Knudsen is there to talk about Borgen.
Nordicana is, above all, a celebration of a culture that we have discovered through these dark and intriguing stories, and the talent behind them, whether they are writers, actors, composers or producers and how we bring together fans and talent alike in a friendly and immersive experience.
There’s a stack of info about this fantastic event at: http://nordicnoir.tv/events and you can see Sofia Helin & Kim Bodnia, from The Bridge, interviewed below on BBC Breakfast earlier today, ahead of this weekend’s finale on BBC Four, this Saturday at 9pm. And don’t forget that BBC Four is now available in HD.
The Bridge Season 2 is released on Blu-ray & DVD on Monday February 3rd, and a review will be online very shortly.
