Next to Hunt is sassy Alex Drake whom he shares a fiery working relationship with. Not only must she grapple with time travel, Drake is desperately trying to keep the bolshie, bullying detective in line. Still trapped in 1982 and no nearer to getting back to her daughter, Alex believes she is suspended in time and finally understands how the world around her works, but when she starts hearing new news from 2008, she realises nothing is as it seems. Clinging on to fast fading hope, she discovers she may not be alone in her predicament. It seems unlikely, but is there someone else in these new-romantic days that can help her?
Drakes psychological profiling skills have aided her trap suspects in the 21st century, but now captive 26 years in the past; her methods are not welcome under Hunts leadership.
