Network Releasing is delighted to announce the DVD release of Noel Cowards classic tale about a friendship that blossoms into love in BRIEF ENCOUNTER, available to buy on DVD on 22nd June 2009, RRP £9.99.
Every Thursday Anna (Sophia Loren) takes a train trip to Winchester to do social work, and take a break from her husband and two children. One day, a tiny piece of grit in Annas eye provokes an unexpected meeting with Dr. Alec Harvey (Richard Burton), and this chance meeting inexorably becomes a secret affair as their casual friendship turns into a tormenting relationship. Realising the danger to her marriage, Anna avoids Alec, who is unhappy in his own marriage; he pursues Anna with increasing intensity, however. Finding herself weakening, she abandons her social work to steal more time with her new love, and agrees to meet him at a friends empty apartment
Directed by Alan Bridges (The Shooting Party), Academy award-winner Sophia Loren and the legendary Richard Burton star in this tale about a chance meeting that progresses from friendship into an unexpected but impossible love, given a new twist in this 1974 reworking.
The DVD is released on June 22nd, it runs for 99 mins and retails for £9.99 on DVD,but is currently on Amazon at the link above for £6.48.
