Network DVD is proud to announce the release of the comedy compilation Larry Grayson: SHUT THAT DOOR: LARRY GRAYSON AT ITV (12), available to buy as a 3-disc set on 22nd June 2009, RRP £24.99.
Larry Graysons high camp, distinctive sense of humour made him one of the stars of Light Entertainment. Adored wholeheartedly by the public, he achieved TV fame in the early 1970s, when he was himself in his 50s. Basing his act on the same one he had used to great acclaim in working mens clubs and on the revue circuit, he would spin tales of his friends Everard and Slack Alice his razor sharp observational comedy tinged with a saucy sense of wickedness and win the hearts and minds of the great public.
His big break came in the form of ATVs Saturday Variety show in 1972, his own series soon ensued SHUT THAT DOOR!, which was swiftly followed by The Larry Grayson Show for LWT. In 1978, he filled Bruce Forsyths shoes as host of the Generation Game; and thus for five years, Larry Grayson reigned supreme as television comedys King of Camp. This set includes both series of The Larry Grayson Show, Larrys Hour of Stars (a special from 1974) – the sole surviving edition of SHUT THAT DOOR! – and much more.
The DVD is released on June 22nd, it runs across 3 discs and retails for £24.99 on DVD,but is currently on Amazon at the link above for £15.98.
