Omar Epps (The Mod Squad, The Wood, Scream 2, TV’s ER) and Sanaa Lathan (Blade,The Wood, The Best Man) are childhoods friends who fall in love as they dreamof becoming professional basketball players. Written and directed by GinaPrince-Bythewood, ‘Love & Basketball’ also stars Alfre Woodard (Dinosaur,Mumford, What’s Cooking?).

In 1981 Monica moves in next-door to Quincy in Los Angeles. They’re 11 andboth want to play in the NBA, just like Quincy’s Dad. Their love-haterelationship continues into high school, with ambition and attitude separatingthem, except when Quincy’s parents argue and he climbs through Monica’s windowto sleep on her floor.

As high school ends they come together as a couple, but within a year, withboth of them playing basketball at USC, Quincy’s relationship with his fathertakes an ugly turn, and it leads to a break up with Monica.

Some years later, their professional careers at a crossroads, they meet again.It’s time for a final game of one-on-one with high stakes.


‘Love & Basketball’ (catalogue no EDV 9099) has a feature film running time of119 minutes, a ’12’ certificate and will be available to buy on DVD priced£19.99 from 19th February 2001.
