Do you believe in destiny?In the same vein as The Omen and Rosemary’s Baby, FinalDestination is a supernatural thriller using innuendo and atmosphereto build suspense. From the producers ofAmerican Pie,Final Destination is set for release on DVD by Entertainment in Videoon November 6th 2000.

It features a dynamic young ensemble case, including Devon Sawa (Idle Hands),Ali Larter (House on Haunted Hill), Kerr Smith(Dawson’s Creek)and Seann William Scott(American Pie).

The DVD will feature 40 minutes of extra footage including a theatrical trailer,deleted scenes, interviews with executives, cast and crew, faeturette onpremonitions and the director’s commentary.

The disc also boasts one of the most advanced features to be seen on DVD- the user can enter their own personal details and will be given the datethat they will pass to the other side.


Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) is embarking on a trip to Paris with his highschool French class. In the plane’s cabin, ready for take off, Alex has apowerful premonition – he sees the plane explode just after take off andinsists that everyone aboard the plane must leave. During the melee thatensues, seven of the class, including Alex, are forced to disembark.

Back in the departure lounge, Alex tries to recount the story to his friendsBilly (Seann William Scott), Tod (Chad E. Donella), Clear (Ali Larter),Carter (Kerr Smith) whose derision of Alex’s paranoia had him and his girlfriendTerry (Amanda Detmer) thrown off the plane. Also with them is one of theirteachers, Ms Lewton (Kristin Cloke), who volunteers to stay with thestudents. All watch in horror as Alex’s horrific premonition provestragically accurate when the plane explodes into a fireball.

Ironically, even though Alex’s intuition saves lives, after the explosionhe is plagued by guilt and suspicion. Ominous premonitions as well as theFBI dog his every step, while Alex realises that he and his friends cheateddeath, however they will not be able to evade their fate for very long.Clear befriends Alex, but no-one really believes his theory – not even asone by one they fall victim to the grim reaper.


Final Destination (cat.no. EDV 9085) has a running time of 94 minutes,a 15-cert, is out on November 6th 2000, in widescreen (ratio stated 16:9)and Dolby Digital 5.1.

No price is set, but expect the usual £19.99 for a high-profileday-and-date title like this.
