The Law and Order legacy continues as Season 1 is released on DVD!
Law and Order is one of the most successful and critically acclaimed series inthe history of television and is released for the first time on DVD.Season 1 will be released as a 6-disc boxset with all 22 episodes fromUniversal Pictures Video from Monday 16th June.
For over a decade the Emmy Award winning series has presented the investigationand prosecution of cases taken directly from today’s headlines. Law and Orderis currently the longest running and most popular drama series on TV and hasrecently been renewed until May 2005, having received over 10 consecutive Emmynominations for Outstanding Drama Series and 4 Golden Globe nominations forBest TV Series.
It features an all-star cast including Chris Noth (Sex and the City), MichaelMoriarty (Along Came a Spider), George Dzundza (Basic Instinct) and RichardBrooks (The Crow: City of Angels). It also features guest appearances fromcelebrated stars such as Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction), Philip SeymourHoffman (Red Dragon), William H. Macy (Fargo) and John Spencer (The West Wing).
Each episode is divided into two parts, the first concentrates on theinvestigation of crime by the police detectives and the second half followsthe prosecution of the crime by the police detectives and the second halffollows the prosecution of the crime in court.
Filmed entirely in New York the series premier episode ‘Prescription for Death’examines those who investigate the crimes (the ‘Law’) and those who prosecutethe criminals (the ‘Order’). When a young girl suffering from bronchitis diesin a hospital amidst a hectic night shift, the girls’ father – an influentiallawyer, accuses the hospital of criminal neglect. Detective Greevey (GeorgeDzundza) and Detective Logan (Chris Noth) are surprised to discover theidentity of the man to blame for the girls’ death.
‘The Reapers Helper’ tells the story of a young gay man who is found dead in hisapartment and through their investigations Greevy and Logan tie the case tosimilar murders in Los Angeles and San Fransisco. However, new evidence determinesthat all the victims had AIDS. So were they mercy killings or hate crimes?
‘Poison Ivy’ is a gripping episode where a routine drug bust turns deadly whena student is killed by a veteran cop. Greevy and Logan trace a gun at thescene back to its original owner, who offers new evidence in the case.
Created and executively produced by Emmy winning producer Dick Wolf, Law andOrder: The First Year is released with a documentary, ‘The Creation Of Law andOrder’.
