NintendoPosted: April 8th, 2002. NINTENDO GAMECUBE GOES DOWN A TREAT IN NEWCASTLE
Just a month and a day away from the official launch date of the NintendoGameCube on 3rd May, Nintendo Cube Club kicked off in Newcastle at Klub Ikonon the evening of 2nd April.
Awash with GameCube purple right through from the entrance to the club itself, the 300 guests partied and played the night away against a backdrop of a purplehaze. 50 GameCube units playing an astonishing amount of games such asLuigis Mansion, Wave Race: BlueStorm, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pikmin (pausefor breath), Eternal Darkness, Star Wars Rogue Leader Rogue Squadron II andCrazy Taxi to name but a few, ensured that a good night was had by all.
Bigger queues than those for the Queen Mum.
Undoubtedly the cutest box on the block was the star of the evening but thatdidnt stop people from clambering over one another to get to the Photo-Cubemachine so that they could get their heads cubed by taking a picture ofthemselves from 6 different angles.
Where it’s at.
