MIKE NICHOLS’ ACADEMY AWARD¸ WINNING MASTERPIECE ARRIVES ON DVD

‘The Graduate’, the film which launched the career of Hollywood luminary,Dustin Hoffman, will be released as a special edition DVD from 26thMarch 2001, RRP £17.99.

The film, hailed as one of the most influential films in movie history, wonNichols an Academy Award¸ for Best Director as well as an Oscar¸ nomination(Best Actor) and a BAFTA¸ (Best Newcomer) for Hoffman.

Released by Momentum Pictures Home Entertainment (MPHE), ‘The Graduate’ marksthe third release from MPHE’s ‘Director’s Chair Collection’- a catalogue ofmovie masterpieces released for the first time on DVD.

For ‘The Graduate’ DVD release, MPHE have put together a special documentary,’The Graduate at 25′; the feature provides a unique insight into the making ofthe film, the director’s influences and inspirations. In addition, the DVDalso boasts original theatrical trailers, a fascinating one-on-one interviewwith Dustin Hoffman and a photo gallery of unseen images shot during the film’sproduction.

As with all releases from the ‘Director’s Chair Collection’, ‘The Graduate’DVD will be accompanied by a limited edition book featuring details about thefilm and it’s direction. The book will also include a collection of articlesand reviews from the original theatrical release.

‘The Graduate’ is a classic tale of twisted love and lost youth supported by aclassic soundtrack from legendary 60’s pop duo ‘Simon and Garfunkel’. Thefilm follows the romantic antics of Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) andseductress Mrs Robinson (Anne Bancroft) and sees Hoffman as a youngcollege graduate who embarks on affairs with both the wife and daughter of hisfather’s business partner.

The widely acclaimed film has recently been translated into a hit West Endtheatre production with stars such as Kathleen Turner, Jerry Hall and fromFebruary 12th 2001, Amanda Donohoe taking on the role of Mrs Robinson.

‘The Graduate’ will be released to buy on 26 March 2001, RRP £17.99 andwill be available from all good home entertainment stockists. The movie carriesa 15 certificate.
