Sanctuary Digital Entertainment presents The Laureate Collection – classic cinema from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, beautifully restored and remastered on DVD.

When a young American woman learns that her French husband has been murdered, she finds herself pursued by a sinister trio of men bent on retrieving a quarterof a million dollars supposedly stolen by the deceased. In desperation sheturns to the C.I.A. but from this point things only start to get more fraught.

A thriller very much in the style of Alfred Hitchcock, Charade was one of thebiggest international box office hits of 1964. Cary Grant, after three decadesof stardom, proved he had lost none of his magic with audiences, whilst thecharm of Audrey Hepburn and the enthralling Paris locations added furtherfirst class ingredients to this gripping masterpiece. All this plus anexceptional screenplay from Peter Stone (“The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three”)and Henry Mancini’s music mean that Charade is a classic of sixties suspensecinema.

Originally released in 1963, this excellently restored DVD version of Charadeoffers a comprehensive array of extra features including exclusive audiocommentary from film historian Ken Barnes featuring conversations with HenryMancini and Johnny Mercer, cast & crew profiles, excerpts from Cary Grant’sand Audrey Hepburn’s debut screen appearances, scene selection, animated menus,Charade’s original theatrical trailer as well as trailers for “Notorious” and”Funny Face”.

The film is presented in its original Widescreen Aspect Ratio 1.85:1 (Letterboxed)with mono Dolby digital sound and english subtitles for the hard of hearing.
