Sega Offers Docomo “Sonic Café” to Combine With Their New Service “I Apli”

Sega Enterprises Ltd, is offering the full use of it’s “Sonic Café” network

service to Docomo for use in conjunction with it’s new “IApli” service. A special site called “Sega Mode” has been created for “I Mode” correspondence with effect from 26th January 2001.This service comes with several offers that benefit the customer, including a Free Trial Period, effective from 26/01/01 to 04/02/01.Meaning customers can enjoy playing from a range of four games provided by the “Sonic Café” as much as they like for only 300yenper month.

“Sega Mode” has already provided a variety of gaming content for “I Mode”, “Sonic Café” will be the first ever game designedexclusively for “I Apli”. Sega intends to produce more gaming content for “I Apli” Mobile phones in the near future.

Current gaming content on phones is driven by the use of still screens, but new technology provided by the “I Apli” will serve toimprove the interactive mobile experience with increased dynamics and user interaction.

“Sonic Café” is developed by the Sonic Team, acclaimed developers of the popular “Sonic Adventure”, the seminal “Phantasy StarOn Line” and “Samba DE Amigo”. Four of Sonic Team’s popular games are to be selected for distribution, allowing customers todownload data and enjoy the games as much as they like for only 300yen per month. Sonic Café will start off with four availablegames and will continue to add further titles in the future.

• 1. NiGHTS

  One of the most popular games developed by Sonic Team for the Sega Saturn. The player assumes control of NiGHTS and builds up the light line by collecting blue chips, the objective being to kill Nightmaren by Pala-loop and progress forward. You can also aim for high scores by linking to the next steps in set time. If you hit the specified targets you will get the special NiGHTS’s screen saver (NiGHTS’ fans musn’t miss this great opportunity !!!!!!).

• 2. Chu Chu Puzzle !

  This is based on the Action Puzzle Game “Chu Chu Rocket” originally available on Dreamcast. The game’s single player mode has been adapted for use as one of the four games. New puzzle patterns can be downloaded upon completion of the provided patterns, more importantly you will get the opportunity to download original puzzles created by other users throughout whole country in the “Chu Chu Edit” facility (see details follow). There are 25 panels (puzzles) in a package – you are entitled to get Sonic’s special “Precious” screen saver once you have cleared all panels in the package.

• 3. Chu Chu Edit

  The Puzzle Edit version of “Chu Chu Puzzle!” introduced above. It enables users to create their original puzzles on “I Mode”. By uploading them to the server, users can exhibit playable puzzles throughout the whole country.

• 4. Samba DE Amigo

  This is the very popular and successful funky music game that was originally produced for the arcades, a successful conversion to the Dreamcast ensured it’s status as a modern classic. Samba’s 6 main aims have been kept in tact and remain true to the original, you can also hit the balls as they connect with the aims by using 10keys on the mobile phone instead of using the Maracas. Every month one new tune will be added to the game. Moreover, users can upload their scores onto the system and they will get the chance to receive a “Reward” Mobile Tune depending on the rank & score of their play. Sega Music Network Ltd are allowing the user to select their favourite tune (from a library of 2000) if they have achieved a certain level of score.
