Queen Of Katwe stars Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) as Harriet Mutesi, a young girl from Uganda who trains to become a world chess champion. Doesn’t sound like the most thrilling concept for a film I’ve come across.
Directed by Mira Nair (2004’s Vanity Fair), from a script by William Wheeler, based on the novel by Tim Crothers the film also stars David Oyelowo (Selma), Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Russel Savadier and Maurice Kirya.
Disney’s Queen Of Katwe is released in the US on September 23rd, but as of yet there’s no UK date.
