‘Entertainment Weekly’ has revealed the first “in mask” photo of Dr Doomfrom Fantastic Four, currently shooting for a summer 2005 release. (seeright)

BATTLE ANGEL ALITADirector James Cameron (Terminator 2) has confirmed that he will next directa big screen adaptation of Yukito Kishiro’s anime comic Battle Angel Alita.

Cameron: “We’re in pre-production right now on a project called Battle Angelwhich is something I’ve been working on for several years and we’re just,we’re finishing up the shooting draft right now.”

“We’ve been designing, it’s a big science fiction film and a couple thingsthat will be interesting about this project – the main character, eventhough it’s a live action film, the main character will be done with CGanimation and the second thing that’s interesting is we’re going to beshooting it in 3D using the stereo imagining system that we’ve beendeveloping for the documentaries.”

Cameron hasn’t directed a feature-film, ignoring last year’s Ghosts Of TheAbyss documentary, since 1997’s Titanic dominated the box office charts.

BOND 21’Moviehole’ reports that Ioan Gruffudd, currently starring as Mr Fantasticin the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, is being eyed by ‘EON Productions’ toreplace Pierce Brosnan as 007 in the next James Bond film. WATCHMENPaul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy) has been tapped to direct Watchmen,now Darren Aronofsky has left the project.

EVIL DEAD – THE REMAKERumour has it that director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man 2) is hoping to film abig-budget remake of his first cult hit The Evil Dead.

MRS DOUBTFIRE 2A sequel to the 1993 hit comedy Mrs. Doubtfire is in the works at ‘Fox2000’. Robin Williams is in talks to reprise the role of Daniel Hillard/Mrs.Doubtfire and resume producing duties with Marsha Williams, says ‘TheHollywood Reporter’. Bonnie Hunt is also in talks to write the film.

The original, directed by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter), earned $219.2million domestically and $222 million overseas for a massive worldwide totalof $441.2 million, or the 53rd highest-grossing film ever.

Mrs. Doubtfire received two Golden Globe awards in 1994, one for bestpicture (comedy/musical) and one for Williams as best actor in acomedy/musical. The film also won an Oscar for best makeup.

V FOR VENDETTADirector James McTeigue is set to helm the adaptation of Alan Moore’sgraphic novel, about a freedom-fighter in a parallel universe where a futureBritain is governed by a fascist state.

McTeigue’s only prior experience is as the First Assistant Director to theWachowski Brothers on The Matrix trilogy and for Star Wars Episode II andIII. This will be his directorial debut.

HARRY POTTER & THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIXBritish director David Yates will helm Harry Potter & The Order Of ThePhoenix for Warner Brothers.

Michael Goldenberg will take over screenwriting duties from Steve Kloves,who has penned the first four movies.

In the fifth book, Harry Potter is faced with the unreliability of the verygovernment of the magical world and the impotence of the authorities atHogwarts. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, he finds depth andstrength in his friends, beyond what even he knew; boundless loyalty; andunbearable sacrifice.

The movie is scheduled to start production in late-2005 for summer 2007.

Yates is currently directing Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly inBrideshead Revisited.
