Jeff Buckley: Live in Chicago, recorded at the Cabaret Metro on May 13th, 1995, during his “Mystery White Boy” tour, some two years before he died in a tragic drowning incident at the young age of 21 on May 29th, 1997.
13 tracks are included here from the California artist including Grace, a previously-unavailable track, What Will You Say, a previously-unreleased instrumental, Vancouver.
I can’t recall ever hearing much of Buckley’s material before, although upon hearing Grace I instantly recognised it and I’m sure it’s getting regular airplay on MTV2 (Sky Digital channel 446) and that’s not just because it reminds me of Coldplay‘s Shiver.
Jeff Buckley’s only had one single make a slight impact in this country, that being, Last Goodbye (No.54, May 1995).
No prizes for guessing that the concert is presented in 4:3 fullscreen. The quality’s very good and has no trace of artifacts. The average bitrate is a high 7.33Mb/s, often peaking over 9Mb/s.
The sound is available in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and PCM Stereo, sounding fantastic in both with the former making good use of the stereo separation.

The Discography just lists the tracks on each album or E.P. release. There are 2 Acoustic Songs, So Real and Last Goodbye, both of which appear in the concert and finally, the Previously-unreleased EPK (17 mins) states it concentrates mainly on Grace but it covers other tracks too.
Sadly there are no lyrics during the concert, but the menus contain some music and subtle animation.
Overall, I didn’t get into this as much as I thought I would after I heard Grace, but fans of Jeff Buckley will no doubt buy it because his output will be no more.
Note that also this music video is exempt from certification, it does contain some fruity language.
