WWF Wrestlemania 2000expands greatly on the previous WWF releases by running for a massive 7 hoursand 20 minutes over two discs.
The first disc contains the entire 3hr+ Wrestlemania 2000 event including theFatal Four-Way Elimination Match for the WWF Championship between Triple H,Mick Foley, The Rock and The Big Show, the Two-Fall Triple Threat Matchfor the Intercontinental and European Championships between Kurt Angle,Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit, the 13-man Hardcore Battle Royal, theTriangle Ladder Match for the Tag Team Championship and the Cat Fightbetween The Kat and Terri.
Disc two does the Wrestlemania’s history proud with a compilation of clipsand interviews with all those involved since it first began in 1985.Each event has its own separate title and lasts between 10 to 16 minutesapiece.
Presented in a 4:3 ratio, I didn’t spot any artifacts, but I didn’t get anychance because over both discs, apart from the Triple Threat Match, thepicture is as juddery as hell! LikeWWF Royal Rumble,it is also presented in NTSC, but I have no problems with those discs myselfso I can only assume it’s a fault with the discs’ mastering as it doesn’t happenall the time including the menus, but does occur for most of it.This is a real shame.
For the latest Wrestlemania event, the average bitrate is a steady 4.74Mb/s,while on disc two, Wrestlemanias 1-7 are an average 5.61Mb/s andWrestlemanias 8-15 are 6.0Mb/s.
The sonic content, presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 (Dolby Surround), fills the roomwith sound. Most of the noise tends to come from the audience cheering while the meatheadsin the ring shout a lot.
Extras :
Disc one contains 14 minutes of bonus material in chapters entitled:Triangle Ladder Match Extras, Why a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinentaland European Match Championships?, Backstage Axxess and The Road to Wrestlemania.Audio commentary is also available from each of the three Triple Threat Matchparticipants separately: Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit.
The second disc is a pure Wrestlemania history DVD as previously described.Fans couldn’t really want more from it other than to see the entire matchesincluded, which wouldn’t be allowed given the space limitations.
There are 12 chapters during the main 3hr+ event, an extra one for the TripleThreat Match and another one apiece for each of the fifteen Wrestlemaniareminiscences. For the languages, shouted English – and Spanish this time – is available forthe main event in plain surround sound with no subtitles. The second disc isEnglish only. All of the menus feature animation in the form of clips from the show, eachwith music.
This will be another big hit with WWF fans, given the huge amount of contentavailable. I just can’t imagine what the problem was with the picture and whyno-one spotted it before releasing it.
