Small Axe is a new series of five films by Steve McQueen, starting with Mangrove, which tells the true story of The Mangrove Nine, who clashed with London police in 1970. The trial that followed was the first judicial acknowledgment of behavior motivated by racial hatred within the Metropolitan Police.
Small Axe: Mangrove begins the season on BBC1 at 9pm on Sunday November 15th.
