Squid Game Season 2 is here, with the first season having come a surprisingly long three years ago, and I can’t even remember if I paid too much attention to the plot, instead just checking out the deaths/murders.
Everyone’s gearing up for their next set of games, and the hunt is on for The Recruiter (Wi Ha-Joon), with the cops looking all over for him, as does Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-jae) from the first season, who’s had to cut out the tracker that was planted about his person.
While out and about, the Recruiter’s games in the opener involve offering beggars a choice between a bread roll and a lotto ticket and, later comes a game of Russian Roulette, set to Nessun Dorma. If you’ve seen The Deer Hunter, you’ll know that rarely ends up as a happy occasion for everyone.
I’ve only seen the first episode of this new series so far, and it’s a mad drama, but why are Korean dramas so dragged out? I know it’s like that in general, but what’s to stop them just curtailing the length by a chunk?
Call this a mini-review so far, but I will check out more, soon.
Squid Game is on Netflix from today. It’s not available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but once announced, it will appear on the New DVD Blu-ray 3D and 4K releases UK list.
