The Inheritance shows That The Traitors has spawned a ton of similar gameshows where individuals plan to screw each other over.
In this one, Elizabeth Hurley is dead… okay, thankfully, she’s not, and she’s still looking incredible at 60.
Unfortunately, the Executor of her will is Robert Rinder, recently having stood in for Jeremy Vine, but completely failed to call out Israel for their ongoing genocide and ethnic cleaning in Gaza.
Any interviews/vox pops with this diverse set of contestants are stupidly filmed from two camera angles. In 2025, how bloody difficult is it to just point a camera head-on and film?! Once you notice this (as I did immediately), it becomes ridiculously irritating.
During the programme, participants will have to partake in a number of games, as Ms Hurley gives “messages from beyond the grave“, the first of which is to gather together all of her wine from the cellar, and get it ready for sale, as it’s apparently a top-flight drop. In order to pick out the right bottles, they are allowed to sample them. Well, that’s my afternoon gone!
But you can’t drink and then go for a dip, and for some reason, this opening task involves outdoor swimming, making me think “Zara, 36, Professional Gamer” is going to have to keep her head above water in order to avoid spoiling her make-up.
For each crate of 12 red wines, they get £400, while for each crate of 12 blended wines, the amount is £800. Naturally, no spoilers as to who gets the cash, but it takes forever to get through this task, and everyone seemed to pitch in, so I am completely devoid of clue as to working this one out.
To confuse matters further, if someone thinks they deserve it, they have to put their head above the parapet and stake their claim. For the rest, they’ll be the jury who decides who gets the cash out of the first lot. And then it gets even more complicated, but my head’s starting to hurt.
Overall, if you want more of this sort of show, then The Inheritance is right up your street, but for me, I’m cashing out…
