My BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW of PATIENCE on Channel 4!

Patience Patience… Patience Evans… Not quite James Bond, but she works in a criminology dept, filing police records, although the woman on their reception is about as unhelpful as Cineworld’s customer service.

She’s autistic, which apparently helps her problem-solve better. So, it sounds like Ludwig, but serious.

After a shocking death for a man who’s only just withdrawn £8000 from his bank account, and deposited it in a bin (for someone to collect later, I suspected?), Patience’s (Ella Maisy Purvis) condition leads to a situation such as leaving cop DI Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser) assume the young lady has made a mistake by bringing her two files instead of the one requested, to which Patience replies with connections such as how they both died on a Friday, and on the 4th of the month.

As an example of her day-to-day life, when a man asks her out at the bus stop, beginning, “Have you got a minute?”, she literally gives him just the minute before boarding her bus. However, he did ask for her phone number, which she gave beginning 07700, and that’s a fake prefix for TV shows and films, so he won’t be getting hold of her any time soon.

Seriously, though, I am intrigued to see where this will go, and while both of the first two episodes were available for preview, given that they’re on consecutive nights, I’ll watch ep.2 onwards live.

Note that even though I’m posting this after the episode has been broadcast, I’ll still leave out potential spoilers in this review – so there’s not a huge amount to say after just the opener – as a lot of people watch on catch-up.

Thanks to our friends at Channel 4 for the screener prior to release.

Patience begins tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm, and will be on All 4. Personally, for this one, I saw the New Zealand broadcast.

It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
