The Serial Killer’s Wife is a Paramount+ four-part drama I overlooked on its release in December 2023, but now, it’s come to Channel 5 to fill an Intruder-sized gap in their schedule.
When a woman is found on the beach, and doctor Tom (Jack Farthing – The Lost Daughter) is in the frame, but it’s worse than that, she’s dead, Tom, dead, Tom, dead, Tom. It’s worse than that, she’s dead, Tom, dead, Tom, dead!
Cue the tired old cliché where cop Angela Griffin (The Wives) walks into his and wife Beth’s (Annabel Scholey – The Sixth Commandment) house, arrests him and starts shouting the odds to all the guests, and then another cliché while Beth is out and about, taking her kids to school, with everyone giving her funny looks.
To get away from it all, Beth goes to stay with friend Adam (Luke Treadaway – Lockwood And Co) for the night, all platonic, of course, but you get the feeling with this sort of drama that some dalliance is going to happen later in the series.
Angela also pulls a ‘Columbo’ when interviewing someone, with a “Just one more thing…”, and when the other cop asks, “What do we do now?”
Well, it looks like I’ll be suffering 3 more episodes of this dross, since it’s as lacklustre as the stench of a week-old fart.
However, I think I’ll check this out when broadcast, so I can laugh along at them on Twitter with everyone else.
