The Walsh Sisters – The DVDfever Preview – BBC1 – Louisa Harland

The Walsh Sisters The Walsh Sisters centres around five female siblings, including the first one we’re introduced to, hard drinking and drug-taking Rachel (Caroline Menton), who’s taken rather too much, leading to her better half not being particularly happy with her behaviour.

And now it comes to BBC1, after first airing on RTE in Ireland, in 2025.

Meanwhile, for Helen (Máiréad Tyers), her Dad needs help ‘getting it up’, referring to content on his iPad, eliciting the response, “If you tell me to help you ‘get it up’, I’ll kill meself”.

Naturally, her mother’s not impressed… “Suicide jokes at 12pm on a Saturday(!)”

So, there can be times when this is quite amusing, but between Anna (Louisa HarlandHamnet) and boyfriend Aidan (Samuel AndersonThe Rumour), he’s actually English, but is putting on a godawful American accent… well, they CLAIM he’s meant to be an American character, but the twang is all over the place.

And why as the men only drinking shorts in small glasses? They’d be on the pints! Given how long it takes to get served in the average bar, you’d get a couple of pints in to start with.

Plus, when a man turns down a woman at a bar, just because of a slight lie, NO man would turn down a sure thing!

Anyway, The Walsh Sisters is basically a soap opera, and even when there’s a bit of drama, it’s boring as hell.

While I’ll keep this spoiler-free, my only advice – if you’re hell-bent on watching it – is that you have to put the subtitles on because of the harsh Irish accents.

Thanks to our friends at BBC for the screeners prior to release.

The Walsh Sisters begins tomorrow on BBC1 at 9.15pm.

It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.

Once broadcast, the episodes will be on BBC iPlayer.
