Truxton Extreme is an arcade-perfect shoot-em-up, with just one flaw…. I suck at it! 😀
I am late to reviewing this, but while it does look extremely impressive, as you can see from the gameplay, it’s VERY difficult.
I never played the original Truxton, but this is one of those shmups where almost EVERY major enemy rains down a zillion bullets on you, while you try to duck & dive. At first, I thought I’d be spared some blushes with the Heartstarter mode, since they goes very gently on you, but no – it’s just the first level, and even then, only part of it!
Hence, despite trying to crack through the opening level, at my most vulnerable, I did not succeed at Succession. It’s just too bloody crazy to get it done. I die over and over, and when a game beats you down like this, it stops being fun.
If Tatsujin and Clear River Games can make an easier version out of this, with a Heartstarter mode for the entire game, then I’ll certainly go back to this, but I’m struggling to recommend this as it is. And if it won’t or can’t change, maybe I’ll just continue to suck at it.
Naturally, I see some people have managed to finish the entire thing! How did you do that? Divine intervention??
