Tweeniesis a children’s show on BBC TV for pre-schoolers aged three to five. Liketheir other popular show, Teletubbies, this too features four charactersdressed in bright colours to appeal to such an age market. This is the secondof two Tweenies DVDs being release this Xmas and follows on fromReady To Play & Song Time, released earlier this year.
In Merry Tweenie Christmas, Milo, Bella, Fizz and Jake, sing and dancein six stories relating to the festive season:
- The Fallen Star
- The Christmas Fairy
- Santa’s Little Helper
- The Nativity
- Christmas Eve
- Frosty Day
Like the previous releases, this is presented in an anamorphic 16:9 widescreenratio, with a superb picture quality that’s packed with colours and willcapture the attention of its intended audience. The average bitrate is 5.11Mb/s, often peaking over 8Mb/s.
When it comes to sound, again the mix is of a series of songs and chat withthe Tweenies being their usual loud selves.
Extras :As usual, the only extra is a “Surprise Me” random play feature which workswell but only for the first story chosen. After that it will play the restin order until the end of the programme.
All the dialogue is in English and has subtitles in English (for the deaf andhard of hearing). There are 7 chapters, which normally isn’t enough forsomething this long, but it separates each individual story here. The main menu is animated with no sound.
Overall, if you’ve bought the first two DVDs for your kids and they enjoyit, then the quality of the presentation is the same here so it’ll makeanother worthwhile purchase for them.
