Unbroken is Angelina Jolie‘s third directorial feature film, following 2007’s A Place in Time and 2011’s In the Land of Blood and Honey, and is a chronicle of the life of Louis Zamperini (the man himself appears in the trailer, but he is played in the movie by Jack O’Connell), an Olympic runner who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during World War II.
Taken from the book by Laura Hillenbrand, and with a screenplay by Ethan Coen, Joel Coen, Richard LaGravenese and William Nicholson, the film also stars Domhnall Gleeson (About Time, Black Mirror), Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy), Jai Courtney (A Good Day To Die Hard), Alex Russell (Chronicle) and Luke Treadaway, and you’ve got a wait for it to appear in the UK as it’s not released until January 16th 2015, whereas the US will get it on Christmas Day.
