Wise Owl – Inside No.9 Series 7 Episode 6 – The DVDfever Review

Wise Owl

Wise Owl is the sixth and final episode of Inside No.9 Series 7.

This series finale opens with a ‘Charlie Says’-type animation, with a Wise Owl warning kids against danger. At first, it just seems amusing, but there’s more to it as you’ll learn.

To say Ronnie (Reece Shearsmith) isn’t having the greatest day of his life is putting things mildly. He’s also a taxidermist and neighbour Derek (Steve Pemberton) asks if he can carry this out for their deceased pet rabbit, Ferrari.

Meanwhile, Ronnie starts seeing a number of strange things happening. Is it in his imagination? Well, in the world of Inside No.9, things don’t always go to plan and you should often expect the unexpected, with events often getting rather grim, and with the cartoon advert world being more relevant to the real-world events onscreen.

Naturally, prior to broadcast, there’s a lot I can’t say – and I wouldn’t want to give spoilers anyway. However, this episode didn’t grab me anywhere near as much as others in this latest series, but I’ll be interested to hear what others make of it.

Wise Owl is broadcast on BBC2 at 10pm on Wednedsay June 1st.

Inside No.9 Series 7 is available to pre-order on DVD, ahead of the release date on June 6th.

There’s also Inside No. 9: Collector’s Edition: The Scripts: Series 1-3 in Hardcover.

After broadcast, each episode will be on the BBC iPlayer.
