Bill Cosby – convicted of sexual assault

Bill Cosby Bill Cosby, the disgraced US comedian, has been convicted of sexual assault on three counts, and could go to jail for a potential 30 years as a result, although that would mean he would be 110 when released, although until he’s sentenced, he will be on bail, which is something the prosecutors argued against.

Either way, Cosby effed and jeffed when the verdict was read out.

His latest trial centres around drugging and assaulting former basketball player Andrea Constand, back in 2004, although a jury failed to reach a verdict for the same allegations, back in June 2017. He had previously tried to pay Ms Constand off with a $3.4m civil settlement back in 2006.

Over the past 50 years, approximately 60 women have accused Bill Cosby of being a sexual predator, but the statute of limitations means that only this one charge has resulted in a trial.

I remember watching The Cosby Show in the mid ’80s when it was on Channel 4, before I tired of it as it ran for so long, although it ran for a total of 8 seasons, concluding on April 30th 1992.

This was soon followed in 1994 with one season of The Cosby Mysteries, although no-one managed to solve the mystery of how this handsy man did what he did.

This case is one of first celebrity trials following the #MeToo movement.

A date for sentencing has not yet been set.
