When it came to Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster, I had a positive feeling it was going to be a good game! For people who aren’t aware, this is a remaster of the classic PS2 versions of these games, and boy are they improved!
The story is set in the world of Spira. From the beginning you are faced with the “Sin”. The teachings of Yevon shows us that Sin is a punishment to those who rely on machina. You can control your character much more in this new version and name it as you wish. There’s also an additional story on the disc besides the two games, which is a nice added extra, and looks great in HD!
The graphics are simply awesome and the HD aspect makes it even better! For example, you can even see the ripples in the water and really immerse yourself in the game. The graphics have definitely been stepped up a notch or two. It is just beautiful to watch, when the cut scenes appear, as they’re so colourful and clear. The lighting has also vastly improved, making everything much brighter compared to the PS2 original.
The music at the start of the game was lovely and mellow. As the game progressed, there were some re-mixes of original tracks which I wasn’t over impressed with.
Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster is by far one of the best games released this year. It operates on a turn-based combat system, so if you don’t like that type of combat, then this game isn’t for you.
The extras are also an added bonus to this pack, and since it is the 10th anniversary of the original release, I think extras were in order and those included are: trophy support, audio from the game and best of all, you can cross save between the PS3 and PS Vita versions (pretty awesome!).
Definitely a game to add to your Final Fantasy collection, or even if you’re new to the series you should still purchase it!
Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster is out now on Playstation 3, Playstation Vita and Playstation 3 Collector’s Edition.
