Spider-Man – PS4 Gameplay Trailer – E3 2017

Spider-Man

Spider-Man brought the most disappointing Sony Playstation E3 Presentation I’ve ever seen to a close.

Why? Well, they only book the small stage these days, rather than in 2015 when they used the same huge one as Microsoft did for the Xbox Presentation. In addition, the audience didn’t appear to give much of a damn about the PSVR games, it took forever to sort out the sound until someone finally found the “Home sound: ON” button, their Sony bloke only trotted on twice to say a few words before quickly buggering off again, and it only lasted an hour – while the Xbox one ran for almost two?? And there was no The Last Of Us Part II? Were Sony taking the piss??

Okay, well back to this game and it was the best of a mediocre bunch as it showed how you can catch baddies by webbing their face and dragging them to the ground, or wrapping them up and hanging them up, or attaching them to buildings.

It looks nicely fluid, and more versatile than the average game I’d expect from one based on ol’ Spidey.

However, there was an over-abundance of QTEs (Quick-time events) – i.e. button-bashing – instead of natural gameplay.

Spider-Man is released in 2018, exclusively on PS4 but there’s no specific date for it yet. Of course, if they’d really thought about this, then it would’ve come out in time to link in with Spider-Man Homecoming.
