Assassins Creed Movie – Michael Fassbender picture

Assassins Creed Movie Assassins Creed is a long-running series of videogames which have been hit and miss over the years, with Assassins Creed Unity really suffering from glitches in its launch offering. However, videogames always make great movies, right?

Oh, so wrong… still, that never stops them trying, and this offering – according to IMDB – centres around Desmond Miles, who is abducted by a company called Abstergo Industries, to explore the mind of his ancestral bloodline. As he’s forced to relive the lives of his relatives he discovers a dark family secret.

Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, Shame, Frank) stars as Callum Lynch, and the first picture has been released, showing him in the outfit (below). Yes, there’s no Callum Lynch in the games (well, not yet), but the film isn’t following any plot from any of the games and instead brings new movies into the gameworld.

The news which accompanied this picture, which is a Yahoo exclusive, pours cold water on the Desmond Miles name, saying it’s now Lynch who finds he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society, through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.

Filming begins next Monday in Malta, London and Spain and the film also stars Marion Cotillard (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises), Michael Kenneth Williams (best known as Omar Little in The Wire) and Ariane Labed (Before Midnight, Love Island – no, not that crap on ITV2!)

The Assassins Creed movie is due for release on December 30th 2016 in the UK, but 9 days earlier in most other countries. Expect the date to change over the next 16 months, however.
