Brian Setzerwill forever be best-known for his time in the late 70s and early 80s aspart of the punk/skiffle band, The Stray Cats. These days he’s more taken totravelling the world with his 16-piece orchestra and this DVD shows a veryappreciative audience in Japan.

What we have here is a hugely-entertaining gig with many an upbeat numberfrom the opening theme tune for Hawaii 5-0 to classics from 20 yearsago such as Stray Cat Strut and even further back with Pennsylvania6-5000 (ask your parents if you’ve not heard of the latter). The StrayCats’ Rock This Town is also performed both as part of the concertand separately as a tribute to Elvis in a ’68 Comeback Special.More recent hits such Jump Jive an’ Wail are also included.

There are no artifacts on show, but the concert looks like it has been shot onNTSC film and the conversion to PAL gives it that soft look that you’d expect. The ratio is 16:9 and is anamorphic.

The sound is in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 and it seriously rocks inboth.

The only extra is The Documentary of The Brian Setzer Orchestra: Live inJapan, an 11½-minute piece with the usual interviews and backstagefootage of the man and his band in Japan. Also in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen.

There are 22 chapters to the disc, as described in the track listing aboveand while most menus are static, they all contain musical snippets from theconcert. The disc contains no subtitles.
