Closing Time is the third in a new series of Play For Today on Channel 5, and love may be in the air…
It’s a simple tale of boy fancies girl, namely takeaway worker Mo (Antonio Aakeel – Too Much) with Laila (Ellora Torchia – Cold Storage), who frequents his establishment as her hen do comes to a close, until her moron of a fiancee interrupts.
Things naturally progress, causing her other half to get mad, while Mo’s a migrant who’s applying to stay in the UK, whilst getting short shrift from the Home Office.
So, will Laila throw away whatever she has with her other half, in order to be with Mo?
Obviously, no spoilers here, but while there’s no major surprises in Closing Time, it’s better-acted and less cringe than last week’s Village Idiot, for certain.
Additionally, I’m not sure why – even on a still shot – the camera keeps reverberating up and down in stilted fashion, as if there’s small tremors happening in the ground. Please don’t add that in.
Closing Time is now online, and all Play For Today episodes can be watched online at My5.
It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
