Cold Pursuit is the annual Jan/Feb movie for 2019, where Liam Neeson kicks, punches and shoots the bad guys. Or sometimes, he kicks AND punches them, or punches and shoots them, or shoots them in the head and THEN kicks them. It’s Taken meets The Commuter, meets all those other films he’s done which are like this.
This time his son is in the morgue, but due to a heroin overdose, and not at the hand of the bad guys… or WAS IT?!
Well, of course it’s the bad guys, and lots of will have to pay because he’s mad as hell. As usual.
Oh, and he’s Citizen Of The Year in his small town.
Since it’s based on the the 2014 Norwegian film In Order of Disappearance (and also by the same director, Hans Petter Moland), he’s called Nels, even though he sounds the same as he always does. Despite being a snowplow driver, he’s not Mr Plow. Unless he’s Nels Plow? Probably not.
As for the snowplow, despite what Nels has gone through, it seems to be perfectly plausible to use it to murder people with gay abandon.
All that said, the original film, starring Stellan Skarsgård, is one I’ve always meant to see, and it looked brilliant. I think I’ll watch that instead.
Cold Pursuit is released in the UK on February 22nd 2019, whereas the US get it on February 8th.
