Easter 2018 – when is it in the UK?

Easter 2018
Easter 2018 is almost upon us, and everyone wants to bunk off work for a few days, and what better way to do that than with a four-day holiday?

As for when it occurs, it can happen at any time between March 22nd and April 25th, so occasionally clashes with my birthday.

It all comes down to when the death of Jesus occurred, so it most likely keeps moving around because no-one can decide when that happened… or if he really existed. If he hadn’t, Ben-Hur would’ve had a few less characters, and most likely, we wouldn’t have been given the godawful 2016 remake.

If you are of that belief, then he bought the farm around the time of the Jewish Passover, which usually comes at the first full moon after the vernal equinox. Since the full moon can vary in each time zone, the Church said that they would confuse everyone by using the 14th day of the lunar month instead, aka the Paschal Full Moon, thus hosting Easter Day on the following Sunday.

Sometimes a Doctor Who special is scheduled for Easter Saturday, so you can also check when Easter happens that way.

So, when the date of that moon is determined, Easter Day and its holidays can be figured out, and it’s all gravy… unless Jesus has turned gravy into wine.

For 2018, Easter begins with Good Friday on March 30th, so Easter Sunday, itself, is April 1st, aka April Fools Day (not a joke, this time), and thus, Easter Monday is April 2nd.
